TEXAS DRIVERS LICENSE SUSPENSION ATTORNEY

Do you have too many violations on your Texas Driving Record, for speeding or other traffic offenses? Or perhaps you have more serious traffic convictions, such as Driving While Intoxicated. If so, your driver's license may be in danger of suspension. You will be sent a Notice of Suspension from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) if a DL suspension is in your future. If you have received this notice in the mail, and are wondering what steps you need to take to try and get your DL suspension overturned, it may be in your best interest to get in touch with the Law Office of Attorney Jack Byno. Since 1994 and in cities all over North Texas, our lawyers have been defending clients at their DL Suspension Hearings in the Justice of the Peace Courts.

If you do not take necessary action upon receiving a Notice of Suspension from DPS, or if your case is lost in the Justice Court, your driver's license will be suspended. In this case, you are not necessarily out of options. Our lawyers may be able to acquire you a temporary license known as an Occupational Driver's License (ODL), or an Essential Needs License. This way you may still be able to transport yourself to work, the grocery store, doctor appointments and other imperative locations. Do you have questions about DL suspension? Please fill out our DL Suspension Contact Form.

Reasons Behind DL Suspension

Have you been mailed a Notice of Suspension by the Texas Department of Public Safety? If so, it may be for one of the following reasons:

  1. Crash Suspension:  may result if you are in a car accident with another driver and fail to produce valid proof of auto insurance; a Crash Suspension may also occur if you do not pay for any medical care administered to another driver who was injured during the accident.
  2. Habitual Violator Suspension: If you commit the same traffic violation on multiple occasions, your Habitual Violation may result in the suspension of your driver's license.
  3. Medical Revocation: You may face DL suspension if a physician concludes that you are not medically competent to drively safely, and informs DPS of this.
  4. No Insurance Suspension: Your driver's license may be suspended if you have a No Insurance Conviction on your record, from previously driving without valid auto insurance.
  5. State Surcharge Suspension: Serious traffic convictions, such as DWI, that resulted in a State Surcharge, can eventually lead to a DL suspension if the State Surcharge is not paid.
